Autumnal Equinox

Mabon

The apex of Autumn, Mabon is a holiday of harvest and giving thanks. This is the turning point when the days will be longer than the nights, so rituals about balance or preparing for the dark winter are appropriate. As this is a harvest celebration, a focus on abundance or gratitude is also apt.

Give thanks at this time for the crops, and animals and food. Complete projects, let go that which is no longer wanted, plant seeds of new ideas and hopes which will lie dormant until the return of Spring. Consider making yourself a talisman of positivity or hope against the coming darkness, or a ritual of release to let go that which no longer serves you.

Try a ritual thanking the gods for the bountiful harvest, or a ritual to restore balance and harmony to your life. Spells to ward and to bring harmony and peace to the home are especially powerful on Mabon.
