Clear the House

You’ll need: Whatever you clean with. Rosemary – fresh, dried, or oil. Something to burn it in or on if you’re using smoke. Optional: salt water, a bell, your own voice.
Timing: When it needs doing. After illness, after conflict, after a run of bad luck, after someone difficult has been in your space, or just when the air feels heavy and you can’t explain why.

Start with the physical. This part matters and people skip it, and then they wonder why the energetic work doesn’t hold. Sweep the floors. Wipe the surfaces. Open the windows if you can, at least the curtains/blinds. Take out the trash. Clear the clutter off the surfaces that have become invisible to you. You know the ones.

This isn’t a metaphor. Stagnant physical space holds stagnant energy the same way a damp corner grows mold. Clean the space first.

When the physical is done, take your rosemary. Loose dried herb in a fireproof dish, a bundle if you prefer, or a few drops of oil on your palms if smoke isn’t an option. Move through the space deliberately: corners first, then along the walls, then through the center. The corners are where energy collects and sits. Start there.

As you go, say what you’re doing out loud if that helps you focus. It doesn’t need to be formal. “Out” works fine. So does “this space is clear and clean.” So does silence, if your intention is solid.

When you’ve moved through the whole space, open the front door for a moment. Let whatever you’ve moved out have somewhere to go.

That’s the working. You don’t have to follow it with a spell. Sometimes clearing the space is the whole job, and the relief you feel afterward is the magic telling you it worked.

Breath Into Stillness

You’ll need: A quiet space, your breath, ten minutes
Timing: Any time. Before ritual, before spellwork, before sleep, before difficult conversations. Whenever you need to cross the threshold between ordinary and intentional.

This is not a complicated working. It is, however, a foundational one — the kind of skill that quietly improves everything else you do. Trance isn’t unconsciousness. It isn’t sleep. It’s the deliberate shift into a more receptive state, like tuning a radio until the static clears.

Sit or lie comfortably. Close your eyes if that feels right. If not, soften your gaze toward the floor.

Breathe in for a count of four. Hold for a count of four. Out for a count of four. Hold for a count of four. This is box breathing — simple, effective, and old enough that nobody remembers who invented it first. Repeat it until your body starts to settle. You’ll feel it: a slight heaviness in the limbs, a quieting of the inner noise.Once you’re there, shift your breathing to something slower and more natural. With each exhale, imagine yourself sinking slightly — not falling, just settling. Roots finding soil. Each breath takes you a little further in.

Stay as long as you like. When you’re ready to return, take three deliberate breaths, slightly deeper than the rest. Wiggle your fingers. Open your eyes slowly.

That’s the threshold.

You’ll need: Your phone or device, a private space to work (album, folder, note, or whatever feels right), intention.
Timing: New moon to open for drawing in. Full moon to open for release. Any time for urgent work – the moon accommodates.

So a spell jar is basically a container you build with intention. You put things in it that represent what you’re calling in or pushing out, and it holds that energy while the working does its thing. This is that. Just… on your phone.

Create a private space on your device. A locked album, a password-protected note, a folder nobody else opens. This is your jar. Treat it like one.

Before you add anything, hold your device for a moment. State your intention out loud or in your head. Something simple and true: what is this jar for?

Now fill it. Screenshots of words that match your intention. Colors. Images. Symbols you’ve made or found. A photo of the moon the night you opened it. Anything that belongs to this working. Nothing that doesn’t.

Close the folder. Set it aside. Come back to it on moon phases: open it, look at what’s in it, add something if it feels right, close it again. You’re feeding the jar the same way you’d tend a physical one.

When the working is complete – when what you called in has arrived, or what you released is gone – delete it. Not archive. Delete. That’s closing the jar.

Prosperity – Coin, Cinnamon & Citrus

Place a coin, a cinnamon stick or powder, and a citrus peel in a small dish or jar. Light a small candle beside it.

Write a simple petition: not what you lack, but what you’re welcoming.
Example: “My work is valued. My needs are met.”

Let the candle burn safely while you breathe on the open container.

Carry the coin in your wallet for the first week of the year.

Evergreen Bundle

Gather evergreen: pine, cedar, fir, holly — whatever grows near you. Add seasonal herbs if desired: cinnamon sticks, bay, rosemary.

As you bundle, speak what you want held at the threshold:
“Nothing that means harm may cross.
Nothing that is not mine may cling.”

Tie with natural twine or red thread.

Hang above your door on solstice or any winter night. Traditionally, you can leave it until it begins to fade or the next seasonal turning.

Catching Winter Solstice Light

On solstice day, place a small mirror near any source of light — sun, candle, hearth flame, even streetlight or moon if clouds hide the sun. The point isn’t brightness. It’s witness.

Hold the mirror in both hands and name what light means right now. Safety? Rest? Survival? Say it out loud if you can.

Let the mirror “catch” whatever light exists for several breaths. Don’t worry about perfection. Cloud cover is part of the spell.

Wrap the mirror in dark cloth and store it somewhere safe. When winter feels heavy, unwrap it and let it remind you.
