Rosemary – Adaptable Ingredient for Powerful Magic

Rosemary – Adaptable Ingredient for Powerful Magic

A powerful herb for cleansing and healing

Rosemary is an aromatic shrub with fragrant, evergreen, needle-like leaves similar to hemlock needles, and white, pink, purple or blue flowers. It is native to the Mediterranean region. It is an incredibly flexible and useful herb. Like white candles, this herb can be substituted for any herb in spells. It has properties of cleansing, protection, love, memory and healing.

Rosemary: Wiccan Ritual Uses

Burn a sprig for cleansing and purifying or to rid a place of negativity, especially before performing any magic. Place some beneath a pillow to drive away nightmares and ensure a good night’s sleep. Hang bunches on your porch and your doorposts to keep away thieves.

Carry some with you for health and to improve your memory. Rosemary makes a fragrant choice to add to your purification bath. Stuff into healing poppets for its curative vibrations, and wash your hands in rosemary infusion prior to healing. Makes an excellent substitute for frankincense.

Rosemary is useful for ritual baths, and for making sacred herbal water for ritual cleansing, blessing and purification. The essential oil of the plant is great for cleansing your magical tools, such as athames and wands. If you don’t have any rosemary oil, crush the leaves in a mortar and pestle to release the oils and fragrance; rub the crushed leaves on your tools. Dip a bundle of this herb in moon water and use to asperge your home.
