Magic in the Kitchen

I was making dinner the other night, chopping vegetables and stirring a pot, and caught myself thinking about how much of my magic happens in places that don’t look particularly magical.

There was nothing elaborate about it. Just a kitchen, a cutting board, a pot on the stove, herbs on the counter, and dinner that needed making. But that’s part of what I love about this kind of practice. Magic doesn’t have to wait for a special occasion. It can live alongside the rest of your life.

The food we prepare. The herbs and flowers we grow for the house. The things we bring through our doors. The ways we protect our home, care for it, share it, and make it ours.

You don’t have to turn every ordinary task into a ritual. Sometimes dinner is just dinner, and sometimes the dishes really do just need washing.

But there are moments when a little intention changes the way you experience something you’ve done a hundred times before. That’s where I find the magic.
